Irish singer-songwriter Dolores O'Riordan, who was lead singer of The Cranberries, died at the age of 46 on January 15, 2018.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said the police were called to a hotel in Park Lane at 09:05 GMT on Monday, where "a woman in her mid-40s" was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is, at this stage, unexplained.
The band confirmed O'Riordan's death in a brief statement;
"Irish and international singer Dolores O’Riordan has died suddenly in London today. She was 46 years old. The lead singer with the Irish band The Cranberries was in London for a short recording session. No further details are available at this time. Family members are devastated to hear the breaking news and have requested privacy at this very difficult time."
Irish president Michael D. Higgins was one of the first to pay tribute. Other early tributes came in from across the music world, including Dave Davies (of the Kinks), Hozier and Kodaline. The Taoiseach of Ireland, Leo Varadkar, also paid tribute to O’Riordan.- G6Kspj3OO0s

- Dolores O'Riordan, originally from Limerick, led the rock band The Cranberries for 13 years before the band took a break starting in 2003, reuniting in 2009.
The band was success in the 90s with singles including "Linger" and "Zombie".
Her first solo album "Are You Listening?" in 2007, followed by, she released sophomore album "No Baggage" in 2009.
In 2014, she started recording new material, a collaboration between Andy Rourke of The Smiths and Ole Koretsky, formed D.A.R.K.
The band released the debut album "Science Agrees" in 2016.
Also, she appeared as a judge on RTÉ's The Voice of Ireland during the 2013–14 season. - source : BBC
