American country singer-songwriter Carrie Underwood teamed up with American rapper Ludacris for a new song "The Champion". The song was teased during an NFL playoffs commercial last weekend and will be the opening track for the Super Bowl on February 4, 2018. Carrie Underwood has been performing the opening song for Sunday Night Football on NBC for the last five seasons.
The song will be also used as theme music during the XXIII Winter Olympic Games broadcasts through NBC.
The track was written by Carrie Underwood, Ludacris, Brett James and Chris DeStefano.
About the song, Carrie Underwood said in a statement;
"Our main focus was to celebrate athletes at the top of their game, but we also wanted the song to resonate with people in their everyday lives."-
