Jhené Aiko Premieres New Short Film “Trip”
Last year, hip hop duo TWENTY88 released their self-titled debut album, in which American rapper Big Sean and Los Angeles-based R&B singer-songwriter Jhené Aiko teamed up together.
Afterwards, she prepared to release her upcoming sophomore album "Trip 17". On September 21, she unveiled a new short film "Trip" before the release the new album.
The film was written by Jhené Aiko herself and co-directed by Tracy Oliver, who wrote the film "Girl's Trip" directed by Malcolm D. Lee. Jhené Aiko plays as Penny.
The short film draws a romantic relationship while struggling with memories of sadness, grief, and loss following her brother’s death. “I am looking for a brother’s love in every single man,” she says. “But you’ll never see me like my brother did, you’ll never need me like a brother did. There’s a black hole in my soul. It’s beginning to show.”
The film has already received rave reviews from her real life beau Big Sean, who wrote,"You out here dropping films baby? my coins ready." on Twitter.- source : Billboard
