Santa Barbara-based singer-songwriter Jack Johnson released his seventh studio album "All the Light Above It Too" on September 8, 2017.
He appeared on Zane Lowe on Apple Beats 1 and talked about his new album on the same day.
He talked about the new album and performed "My Mind Is for Sale" and "Sunsets for Somebody Else" with acoustic guitar.
From album, he has released four singles the like of "Fragments", "My Mind Is for Sale", "Sunsets for Somebody Else" and "You Can't Control It".
"Fragments" is featured in the short film "Smog of the Sea" directed by Ian Cheney (King Corn, The City Dark, The Search for General Tso). It documents a week-long expedition that he and other ‘citizen scientists’ took through the Sargasso Sea of the North Atlantic, to explore the problem of plastic pollution in the ocean.
The new album is his first LP in four years, including 10-track, which were written by Jack Johnson.
He has a new Pandora Radio channel that plays only songs from this album until September 19, 2017.- The interview starts at 11:27.
Also, he visited to Mike D's Beats 1 radio show The Echo Chamber and unearthed a song from his high school-era Minor Threat.
Jack Johnson said;
"So then we figured out that they had Minor Threat ahead of time, that Ian [MacKaye] had been in Minor Threat [before Fugazi] and once we heard this we were like, 'Okay, I think we can do this' and so we became a Minor Threat cover band, that was like 90 percent of our repertoire. It was amazing time. I mean anybody who's ever formed your first band or any band you know just knows that's like the funniest thing in the world is just getting to get to your friends in the garage and making a bunch of music."
