- Dua Lipa and Gallant Cover Amy Winehouse's “Tears Dry On Their Own” on In The Room Series
- September 14th is English singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse's birthday, if she had been alive, she would have turned 34.
London-based singer-songwriter Dua Lipa and American singer-songwriter Gallant, who paid tribute to Amy Winehouse and performed her 2007's hit "Tears Dry On Their Own".
Both artists recorded the song at live in one take at NRG Recording Studios in Los Angeles.
This collaboration is Gallant's In The Room series, in which he collaborates with popular artists to create new live takes of their songs.
"Tears Dry On Their Own" was released as the fourth single from Amy Winehouse's final studio album "Back to Black". It was written by Amy Winehouse, Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson. The track reached number 16 on the UK Singles Chart.
Also, the song was featured in the documentary film based on the life and death of Winehouse "Amy" (2015).
Amy Winehouse died of alcohol poisoning on 23 July 2011 at age 27. Her last album "Back to Black" posthumously became, for a time, the UK's best-selling album of the 21st century. Also the album won five Grammy Awards in 2007.
- Gallant stated about this collaboration with Dua Lipa;
"Dua is a fantastic artist and I was shocked to hear she wanted to do and episode of In The Room with me. I think we created a special moment together."
Dua Lipa said;
