Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ Lorde Premieres New Music Videos for Six Reimagined “Melodrama” Songs
New Zealand singer-songwriter Lorde collaborated with VEVO, where she premiered six new music videos on August 16.
She filmed the new cuts at New York's famed Electric Lady Studios, where she also recorded the album. The videos were directed by Micah Bickham.
The songs are "Homemade Dynamite," "Hard Feelings/Loveless," "Supercut," "Sober," "The Louvre" and "Writer in the Dark", which are included on her sophomore studio album "Melodrama".
All songs were written by Ella Yelich-O'Connor and Jack Antonoff, except "Homemade Dynamite", which was co-written by Tove Lo, Jakob Jerlström and Ludvig Söderberg. Jack Antonoff appears in "Writer in the Dark".
On August 13, Lorde and Jack Antonoff performed Paul Simon's 1972 hit "Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard" at the 2017 Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival in San Francisco.- sExX9XmTtbQ

- About the songs, Lorde said;
"I don't really do acoustic sessions or anything, but with this record, it had roots in acoustic instruments, in live musicianship. I think when you start to strip a song back, you really come back to this place of where you were building it.
A lot of Melodrama is really about taking these kind of traditionally young female emotions – it was kind of interesting to me to take those, and amplify them and make them into something kind of transcendent. And so I feel like having the girls out on the roof and making a really beautiful multipart harmony and just getting to have a sing is kind of what should have always happened with Melodrama I think, what the DNA of it is for sure." - source : Rolling Stone
