Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ Lucy & La Mer Premieres New Music Video for “Honey, Put Your Weapons Down”
Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Lucy LaForge, aka Lucy & La Mer dropped a new music video for "Honey, Put Your Weapons Down" directed by LaForge herself.
The song was released in May 2017 and premiered exclusively on Huffington Post. It was produced by by Grammy Award-winning Jared Lee Gosselin.
The video was shot in May, she told Vents Magazine about the video, "It’s all about technology and how our phones/laptops/etc influence and distract us within our relationships."
About the new song, Lucy LaForge explained;
"I wrote this song very quickly, after leaving an unhealthy relationship very slowly. I sat on my front steps after my ex picked up the last of their things and I couldn’t quite get myself to go back inside. I started writing and this song came out.
The writing was easy and very cathartic, it felt like I was journaling my woes after a bad day. I hadn’t even realized that I’d stopped writing entirely while I was in this relationship, and then once it was over I couldn’t stop.
Recording was a different story. It took a long time to find a producer who could keep the folk elements of our live performance in the recording, while also adding their own electronic touch."
