She wrote 40 songs for the album, finally she chose 15 songs and stated about the album, "It's definitely a new era for me and an era of purposeful pop. Fun and dance-y and dark and light."
Also, she said about the concept to the album cover, "Music has allowed me to travel, which has reeducated my mind and changed my perspective on so much, so my education and my consciousness comes from my voice, and that's how I see, and that's how I witness you and that's how you witness me and that's why the eye is in the mouth."
She will kick off the tour called "Witness: The Tour" to promote the album at Schottenstein Center on September 7, 2017. The tour takes place in North America as the first leg through February 2018. The tour will resume at Lanxess Arena in Germany on May 23, 2018, as second leg in Europe.
