- UK Trailer for “Dark River” Featuring PJ Harvey's Cover Song “An Acre of Land”
- UK trailer for British drama film “Dark River” was unveiled on November 27, directed by Clio Barnard, starring Ruth Wilson, Mark Stanley, and Sean Bean. The film screened in the Platform section at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival.
The film tells the story of a woman, Alice (Ruth Wilson), who returns home to her family's farm after 15 years following the death of her father. While Alice tries to reclaim the farm as her own, she's forced to contend with her older brother Joe (Mark Stanley), who has struggled for years to keep the farm afloat while caring for their sick father.
The film is scheduled to be released on February 23, 2018.
In the trailer, London-based singer-songwriter PJ Harvey performed the traditional English folk song “An Acre of Land”. She covered the song with an acoustic guitar and piano on “Dark River” soundtrack.
PJ Harvey released her ninth studio album "The Hope Six Demolition Project" in 2016. Back in April, from the album, a double-A-side single featuring "A Dog Called Money" and "I'll Be Waiting" was released.
In June, she collaborated with Egyptian musician Ramy Essam on "The Camp", which was aimed to address the Syrian refugee crisis in Lebanon.
