- Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill: First Trailer for “Darkest Hour”
- Focus Features has released official trailer for British war drama film "Darkest Hour".
The film is directed by Joe Wright and written by Anthony McCarten, starring Gary Oldman, Ben Mendelsohn, Kristin Scott Thomas, Lily James, Stephen Dillane and Ronald Pickup.
The film is inspired by true story and draws Churchill's early days as Prime Minister as Hitler closes in on England in World War II.
Gary Oldman plays Winston Churchill and is the key to a really special or noteworthy in the film.
Within days of becoming Prime Minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill must face one of his most turbulent and defining trials: exploring a negotiated peace treaty with Nazi Germany, or standing firm to fight for the ideals, liberty and freedom of a nation.
As the unstoppable Nazi forces roll across Western Europe and the threat of invasion is imminent, and with an unprepared public, a skeptical King, and his own party plotting against him, Churchill must withstand his darkest hour, rally a nation, and attempt to change the course of world history.
The film is scheduled to be released on November 22 in the United States and December 29, 2017 in the United Kingdom.
