20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for "The Mountain Between Us", directed by Hany Abu-Assad, starring Idris Elba and Kate Winslet.
The film is based on the novel of the same title, which was issued by American author Charles Martin in 2011.
The Story focuses on Dr. Ben Payne and writer Ashley Knox, both of whom injured got stuck on High Uintas Wilderness as they survived a plane crash.
In the film, a character name was changed from Ashley Knox into Alex Martin.
Most of the filming took place in Canada on the border of Alberta and British Columbia.
The film is set for release on October 20, 2017.
About the film, director Hany Abu-Assad told USA Today;
"Every day we had the call sheet with five different scenarios in every possible weather. You can believe he survived this wildness. The studio, the producers were very scared that something was going to happen. The first time, it wasn’t good, so I went to Kate and everybody was like, ‘No, you can’t do that!’ (But) I asked her, ‘Listen, can we try one more time?’ She said, ‘We do what we have to do.’ Kate is very professional. I really didn’t see an epic love story against the background of survival. I think optimism and hope is crucial to survive. And to go on with your life even if you’ve had a lot of bad luck. So if you give (in) to the bad luck, you will die. (But) if you fight the bad luck, you have a better chance to survive and make your life better. This is very simple wisdom, yes? But still very crucial especially in these kind of days, when everybody feels entitled to their good luck."- Plot;
On a stormy winter night, Dr. Ben Payne (Idris Elba) and writer Alex Martin (Kate Winslet) are stuck in Salt Lake City airport when their flights home are cancelled. Both of them are in hurry- Ben has patients to attend to, and Alex is getting married the following day. Ben hires a charter plane and offer Alex a seat, but when their pilot suffers a heart attack during flight, the plane crashes, leaving them stranded in the High Uintas Wilderness.
Though they survive the impact with injuries (Ben has broken ribs and Alex suffers a terrible leg fracture), they are faced with harsh weather conditions and the fact that no one knows they are missing. The ordeal leads them to rely on each other to stay alive, and ultimately brings them closer.
